Welcome to the Sober S3x Series! I’m Ms. Mac (she/fae), a Certified Holistic Sex Educator (CHSE) and sober pansexual queer here to support you wherever you find yourself on your journey with sex and substances. Think Ms. Frizzle meets Ms. Honey :)

I created the Sober S3x Series to navigate the spectrums of sex and sobriety outside of the binaries that bind us. So much of sex education and recovery spaces are rooted in abstinence-only approaches, leaving no nuance for individual experiences.  I am committed to providing LGBTQ2SIA+ inclusive comprehensive sex education from a harm reduction approach that meets you wherever you are on your journey, both with sex and with substances.

Exploring your relationship to both sex and substances can carry immense amounts of shame and judgment, and I am committed to crafting a brave community space for us to share our experience with these very real, sometimes very vulnerable, feelings and encounters.

Have a question about sex and substances that you’re unsure who to ask?

EXPAND

your definition of what sex is. Operating outside of the cis-heteronormative idea of what sex is, Sober S3x Series explores sex outside of penetration.

Sex is defined as whatever your definition is.

EMBODY

wherever you find yourself in your journey with sex and substances. You are welcome here. Whether you are thinking about getting sober, have been for many years, or are currently moderating--

If you are here, you are in the right place.

ENGAGE

in a brave space for all to share and connect without judgement. No gatekeeping, hate speech or negative comments will be tolerated.

We take care of us.

Meet Ms. Mac

I am 10 years into my own recovery journey– 1.5 years sober, then moderated, now alcohol-free for almost 6 years. My sobriety journey was not through traditional organizations like A.A., rather a forum-based platform that no longer exists-- something that has since in part shaped my desire to build the Sober S3x Series community.
Though some individuals find empowerment from labels, I am less concerned about how you identify in recovery spaces and more interested in hearing your personal story, meeting you where you are today and learning what shaped who you've been

My background and certification at ISEE (Institute for Sexuality Education and Englightement) as a Certified Holisitic Sex Educator coupled with my ANTE-UP! Sex and Drugs Certification provides me with a foundational web of support and shared resources. I am also committed to accessibility and acknowledge my white, cis-presenting, able-bodied, straight-size, and hearing privileges. I actively work to unlearn my inherent biases by supporting decolonization in recovery spaces, participating in direct mutual aid and engaging in continuous learning and investment in my personal growth. I am a curious being open to being wrong and growing through accountability, especially through the lens of Sonya Renee Taylor's Calling On approach. I love language and am currently learning American Sign Language.

In my personal time, you can find me behind a keyboard or bass guitar singing powerfully, behind a sewing machine crafting something only my late mother would appreciate or behind a waterfall as I find reprieve in nature.

Thank you for being here and I look forward to connecting in community with you! Connect in community here <3
